Kristy Ockunzzi-Kmit
Kristy Ockunzzi-Kmit is a freelance author and artist from Cleveland’s West side. Following humble beginnings as a developer and editor in the tabletop gaming community, she went on to spend the last couple decades copywriting, ghostwriting, and proofreading for clients as interesting as a marginally-successful fantasy author and as boring as a whey protein manufacturer. (It’s okay; they know they’re boring.) She has also published arts-centric pieces with a local Cleveland newspaper called The Land and has helped both teens and adults hone their craft through her work as a private tutor for creative writing.
Kristy spends her free time writing fiction, fantasy, and science-fiction stories, and can frequently be found defining obsolete words on Twitter or trying to add yet another upgrade to the computer she built for her husband. In her private life, she maintains a pollinator-friendly herb and vegetable garden, crochets but cannot knit, and is the sort of person who goes out of her way to befriend backyard squirrels. As the wife of a composer and the mother of a creative teenager whose eyes are focused on the stars, there’s no shortage of inspiration in Kristy’s life (though she does often find herself short on time.) She hopes to have a dictionary, a short story collection, and a science fiction novel all prepared for release by the end of 2023.
