Vashelle Nino

Vashelle Nino is a Mexican-American former Army brat and current nomad who has lived in nine U.S. states and abroad. Her colorful upbringing and diverse range of experiences have fostered a keen interest in themes such as death, betrayal, motherhood, cultural identity and what it means to be “home.” Her stories tend to include supernatural, religious or natural world motifs. She currently lives with her family in Maryland, where they enjoy temperate weather, countless nature walks and piña colada snowballs.

In addition to being The Cinnabar Moth Literary Collections Author in Residence for 2021, Vashelle will debut three fiction short stories. “Blessed Art Thou Among Women” will appear in Blood & Bone: An Anthology of Body Horror by Women published by Ghost Orchid Press and edited by A.R. Ward. “The Black Tree” will appear in A Cold Christmas and the Darkest of Winters, an anthology published by Cinnabar Moth Publishing, story edited by Aila Levin, and “‘The Warbler’s Song” will appear in the fall-themed horror anthology Autumn Noir by Unsettling Reads.
